Job Description

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Systems Network Analyst, Senior in the Aviation Information Technology Network section.

The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the North Perry Airport is seeking qualified candidates for the position of System Network Analyst, Senior to work in Aviation's Information Systems Network Section.


The Systems Network Analyst, Senior manages network related projects and provides design, procurement, implementation, maintenance and administration of the enterprise network infrastructure which include routers, switches, wireless controllers, wireless access points, firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS/IDS), voice over IP (VoIP) phone system, video conferencing solutions, digital signage solutions, uninterpretable power supplies (UPS). Performs change control tasks, launches and implements any new technologies approved by management and special task force; studies, investigates, reviews, and recommends implementation of evolving and emerging technologies. Provides help desk support; responds to calls, emails, incident tickets, and/or inquiries from computer/network users and customers to resolve/troubleshoot network hardware or software issues; provides tech support in the field and after-hours support. Must document deployment, security, quality assurance, change controls, and compliance for the network and voice systems.

This position requires an advanced level of technical and analytical skills to install, configure, administer and troubleshoot the Cisco network L2/L3 switches, routers, Cisco Wireless LAN controllers, Cisco Firepower firewalls, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco voice gateways, Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Emergency Responder and Cisco Unified Contact Center Express applications at the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport. Must have advanced knowledge on Internet Protocol suite, OSI model, VRF Lite, QoS, OSPF, PBR, WiFi Standards, IPsec/SSL VPNs, VoIP. Must have experience in packet analysis for security and traffic packet capture analysis for network troubleshooting. Must have experience in network monitoring and have intimate knowledge of SNMP, WMI, NetFlow, IPSLA in order to utilize network monitoring software tools including Cisco DNAC, Solarwinds Orion and Intermapper. Project Management skills are needed for the implementation of large-scale projects.


Work Schedule: 4-day workweek - 10-hour shifts

These Systems Network Analyst Senior positions are part of the team which is supporting department operational needs in a twenty-four (24) hour per day/seven (7) days per week operation. The person in this position must be able to work on holidays if the shift schedule falls on such. 

The following shift is available:

Shift # 3.
  • Tuesday through Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
 
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a two (2) year degree from an accredited trade, technical or vocational school, college or university with major coursework in computer science or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires four (4) years in supporting users and analyzing computer systems or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license during employment and maintain authority to drive on County business.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Badge and Customs Seal.

Provides design, procurement, implementation, and administration of the network infrastructure - routers, switches, and plans; provides procurement, implementation, and administration of firewalls; provides administration of the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system; and manages network related projects.

Analyzes, diagnoses, and rectifies issues related to server and/or desktop/laptop computer problems as they are reported on an emergency or non-emergency basis; including issues related to missing drives and group policy scripts.

Completes ad-hoc projects based on end user and Information Technology (IT) analyst needs, including troubleshooting and updating and maintaining file systems.

Performs change control tasks, including implementing and updating web applications as needed by application analysts; launches and implements any new technologies approved by management and special task force; studies, investigates, reviews, and recommends implementation of evolving and emerging technologies.

Performs analyses of systems designs, develops applications, and documents work flow and processes; reviews peer-reviewed and professional material in digital and paper formats to keep up with the latest trends in both the library and technology community.

Provides help desk support; responds to calls, emails, incident tickets, and/or inquiries from computer/network users and customers to resolve/troubleshoot microcomputer and minicomputer hardware or software issues; provides tech support in the field and after hours support.

Provides systems administration for servers, patch installation and upgrade maintenance; installs, configures, and reimages desktop/laptop hardware and software; performs data backup and restores; and manages computer security and virus removal.

Performs related work as assigned.
