Job Summary: The Surgery Scheduler processes all orders placed by IPA providers for Advanced Procedures for patients, from order to completion of procedure while remaining the point of contact for each patient. Responsibilities: - Ability to respond to all work correspondence in a courteous and professional manner
- Utilize EMR system fax line and pull reports and patient records for department
- Organize orders and consistently follow up on authorization and scheduling status
- Obtain authorization through insurance portals and external authorization departments based on product being implanted
- Insurance verification
- Schedule pre-surgical psychological evaluations for patients
- Schedule appointments for all company locations to include clinic and ASC facilities
- Scanning documentation from providers, patients, and insurances into EMR system
- Completion of appeals and processing Peer to Peer Requests for denied procedures
- Contact insurance companies for authorization updates
- Direct all communication and concerns to direct supervisor
- Copy appropriate recipients on all work-related emails and EMR telephone encounters
- Communicate status updates to patients on a consistent basis
- Update EMR orders and messages on consistent basis
- Respond accurately to staff inquiries in a professional manner related to the Implant Dept
- Process all orders within reasonable timeframe and continually check status for updates
- Ability to take and make calls from patients and insurance companies within reasonable time frame
- Maintain high priority tasks, messages, emails daily and throughout the day
- Format all authorization documents correctly & verify for accurateness prior to sending
- Review charts for medical necessity to ensure criteria is met prior to sending authorization requests
- Ensure all office visit authorizations are in good standing prior to referring patients out
- Notify appropriate departments in advance of any issues that may arise regarding authorization submission or scheduling
- Additional tasks assigned by Supervisor or Executive Management
You will love it here if you have: - Two (2) years of Pre-Certification experience OR one (1) year of Advanced Procedure authorization experience/scheduling
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 codes
- Ability to work 40 hours weekly

- Ability to type a minimum of fifty (50) words per minute
- Positive attitude and adaptable to change
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Basic medical terminology
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Patient Rights guidelines
- Familiarity with insurance authorization processes
- Knowledge of insurance plans and requirements associated with each plan
- Previous knowledge/experience obtaining prior authorizations for surgical procedures
- Ability to follow all Federal, State and Local regulations
- Previous knowledge/experience referring patients
- Ability to enter data professionally in the EMR system
We need you to have: - High school or equivalent (Preferred)
- Insurance Pre-certification: 2 years (Preferred)
- CPT and ICD10 Code: 1 year (Preferred)
- advanced procedure authorization: 1 year (Preferred)
