Who are we looking for?

Implement and maintain the complex enterprise Firewall environment, including planning, coordinating, implementing, securing, maintaining, performance tuning, and developing specialized procedures relating to the implementation of the firewall environment. Also evaluates new products and services, performing comprehensive systems analysis and selecting progressive support methodologies for all firewall applications.

Responsible, under the general direction of the Supervisor, Network Services Unit, for performing any of several basic or special assignments which facilitate the highest reliability and performance possible for the enterprise LAN system, the incumbent is challenged to maintain and improve the firewall and LAN subsystems as required. Coordinates the efforts of Analysts, Technicians, and Administrators in the implementation of new and upgraded system functionality. Proactively recommends strategic technical direction with respect to new methods, HW and SW acquisitions, and performance monitoring and tuning.

The incumbent is considered an expert in the assigned field and performs very complex tasks with minimal supervision limited to strategic guidance by the unit head and team lead. Supports company network technology, which provides comprehensive international and domestic systems service and support to all company Departments and project sites in North America. Company network assets, representing a capital investment exceeding $15 million, are installed and maintained in several Houston, Texas, locations as well as New York, Washington, DC and at PMT sites located across North America. Moreover, the company network interfaces and operates effectively with similarly sophisticated voice and data systems equipment in Houston. 

Key Responsibilities

• Analyzes new requirements and designs gateway components to meet those requirements. Plans, designs, implements and tunes Firewall infrastructure to enable zone to zone access between computing devices.
• Proactively recommends technical direction for maintaining, enhancing and extending company's firewall environment.
• Designs and maintains security methodology which is reflective of company computer access security policy.
• Sets configuration standards and operating guidelines.
• Oversees the testing and analysis of new technology.
• Develops the network access component of company's critical business continuation plan.
• Performs other duties as directed.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Business or related discipline.
• 10 years of experience in the design, performance tuning and implementation of network access control systems. Extensive experience with Juniper, FortiGate or Cisco is preferred.
• Must be able to communicate and comprehend accurately, clearly and concisely in English at a level required to perform the job responsibilities as outlined. Must be able to communicate technical concepts in a non-technical way.
• Must possess good work habits, a strong work ethic, be a quick study, able to learn, retain and teach others new technology as it is introduced in the industry; and be able to adhere to company work hours, policies and standard business etiquette.

A successful interview may result in a conditional offer of employment.
