Interior Architectural Design and Project Manager

This is a fabulous opportunity to be highly creative and design all facets of interior architecture. This includes ceiling details, molding designs, door designs, staircases, wall details, built-in cabinetry, wood cladding, paneling, mantels, kitchens, bathrooms, offices, libraries, custom furniture and more! The position also requires someone who is incredibly organized, a task master that is great at follow through and fantastic at project management.
Client Contact : You will serve as the liaison between both design principals and clients. You will be required to represent the company in a highly professional manner, protecting the company’s reputation and market image.
Design Services : You will be expected to provide the necessary services to fulfill projects such as; conceptual design, CAD drawings or work with CAD operators, construction material selections, meeting with client, architect, builder & any other persons related to the project. You will create and/or review minutes and distribute to all members the team and attendees.
A) Interior Architectural Design, Construction Administration & CAD
1. Operate and manage the interior architectural department of the firm. You will have direct communication with the firms client’s regarding construction, conceptual design, CAD drawings and construction specifications. 1
2. All projects will be started with a conceptual vision together. Once work is completed it is to be submitted and approved by the principals before submitting to the client.
3. Attend team meetings with a Design Principal and the client to understand all of their needs and overall vision for the project.
4. Creative opportunities for you include space planning of all rooms, architectural detailing of the entire project interior: ceilings, moldings, floor patterns and transitions, custom door detailing, built-in designs and custom furniture designs, stone & tile layouts, railings, stairs, wood and stone cladding, mantle designs, etc. All designs are to be submitted to a Design Principal for approval.
5. Work with CAD operator to create a complete set of on-site field measurements to come up with an accurate set of as built plans. Once complete you are to create a full set of interior architectural plans for the project.
6. Work with CAD operator to create a completely dimensioned construction plan, demo plan, electrical, HVAC, lighting, reflected ceiling plans, section details and elevations of all required.
7. Design and work with CAD operator to create all elevations including kitchens, bathrooms, mantels, doors, elevators, railings, etc. This includes all items dealing with custom detailing interiors and submit to Design Principal before submitting to the client.
8. Work with the client to select all finishes including wood, tile, stone, railings, etc.
9. Meet with GC’s to review the plans and a complete set of finishes for the residence so that they can bid on the job. Review bids and do comparison spreadsheet.
10. Review all shop drawings to make sure they have followed our designs, specifications and dimensions. Review all finish submittals.
11. Be a part of the team meeting with client’s to understand their vision for the interiors and all finishes. Also visits to stone yards, tile showrooms, cabinet makers, selections of plumbing fixtures and appliances.
12. Together with the construction administrator you will create a construction book with all lighting to be used, HVAC grills, moldings, electrical outlets and switches, cabinetry, stone, tile, appliances, plumbing fixtures, stairs, mantels, etc.
13. Attend job meetings on construction site with the general contractor and subcontractors, on a regular basis along with the construction administrator from PRID to make sure things are being built per our plans/elevations. Review administrators minutes before they are distributed to the team. Progress photos to be sent to the client if the client is out of town if the GC is not sending them.
B) TEAM EFFORT
1. Pitch in when necessary in all facets of design with deadlines and stay late when necessary (this will be planned in advance when possible).
2. Assist Principal with product design.
3. Run general errands as necessary
C) ANSWERING PHONES & MAIL
1. You will be fifth in line to answer phones. If the person is not available, messages are to be emailed & copy both principals when important. Screen all cold calls.
2. Client calls: extremely important to know the status of each project if both principals are out of office.
D) COMPENSATION: The Company will compensate you with the following:
· If you bring in a new client to the company your bonus will be significantly more than your bonus earned on clients brought in by either principals. This is assuming excellent performance on the project.
· A 401K with profit sharing that you can invest in after one year as a salaried employee.
· Health insurance will start three months after your first day of employment.
· One month paid vacation. If vacations days are not used they will be lost! The firm encourages their employees to take time off! Every year you are with the company you will earn an additional vacation day.
· Recognizes all national holidays and in addition, we try to take off the Friday after Thanksgiving and between Christmas & New Year’s. This is dependent of the design project schedules and will be determined in advance on a yearly basis. If the time can be taken off it will be paid. This gives you a total of 5 weeks vacation.
· After one year you will be eligible to participate in the company’s 401K and profit sharing retirement plan.
· If the partner’s of the firm are mutually satisfied with your talents and skills, you will be offered a named and invested partnership. The timing will be determined upon your performance within the first couple of years and a formal partnership document will be drafted by the firms lawyer for your acceptance.
· The company will pay for the following: ASID dues, CEU courses and DLN Membership.
