THE OPPORTUNITY

OCEA is recruiting an experienced Information Technologist I to support Communications/IT operations. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, front-end web development for multiple websites, implementing email marketing campaigns, tracking/using analytics data, interacting with members/customer service, proofreading content, and supporting technical needs for each department. The position requires you to work as a generalist in many functional areas including web development (WordPress), mass email/text tools (i.e., MailChimp), and web marketing/analytics (Google). Communications/IT functions include all aspects of member communications, professional technical duties pertaining to the analysis, development, maintenance and administration of computer hardware and software systems to meet business needs, limited front desk/reception coverage, and other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
A qualified candidate will possess the following essential knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge:

  • Website development and management (WordPress) – including HTML, PHP, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience administering mass email campaigns using services such as MailChimp.
  • Knowledge of the system administration of a Content Management System; updating templates/HTML
  • Knowledge of system administration of web servers and website infrastructure

Skills:

  • Identify and resolve challenging technical issues and problems or researching possible solutions
  • Documented experience leading and implementing technology and web projects from start to finish
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter
  • Generating consensus and establishing collaborative relationships to bring about efficient and effective outcomes
  • Work with all staff/departments to determine the best steps for each project/situation

Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to respond quickly, courteously, and proficiently to customer service requests
  • Ability to solicit feedback and adjust requests to fit into business improvements
  • Ability to help resolve issues over the phone, via email, remotely or in-person for walk-ins such as password reset, help registering online, application support, etc.
  • Ability to design and deliver staff trainings on organization specific, as well as general office application use
  • Ability to proofread and finalize communications and web content

Education:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Information Computer Science, Information Computer Technology, Information Systems, or in a related field OR four (4) plus years of professional experience in the areas of design, implementation, configuration, and support of systems in an enterprise environment.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will also possess the following desirable qualifications in the following core competencies:

Information Technology Knowledge / Software Application Experience:

  • Server and desktop configuration, troubleshooting and monitoring
  • Knowledge of networks and firewalls
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 technologies with strong skills in security and policy design and implementation.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud software including InDesign and Photoshop.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Frequent standing or sitting for extended periods; frequent walking; occasional driving may be required, depending upon assignment; occasional pushing/pulling; occasional bending, kneeling, squatting and crawling; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; infrequent lifting up to 50 pounds; constant use of good overall vision for reading/close up work; infrequent use of color perception and occasional use of eye/hand coordination; frequent repetitive motion from writing and using a computer keyboard; occasional grasping, holding and reaching; frequent hearing/talking to others on the telephone and in person; frequent decision making and concentration; occasional public contact; occasional working alone.

Additional physical/mental requirements or frequencies may be required, depending upon assignment.

Environmental and Working Conditions:
Work is typically performed in an indoor office environment, but occasionally requires travel to other indoor and outdoor locations. Work environments may include high levels of noise, dust and/or unpleasant odors. Occasional early morning, evening, holiday and/or weekend work will be required.

Schedule:

  • Job type: Full-time, Monday-Friday.
  • Upon completion of the onboarding process, staff members may work Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday.

  • Our staff work at OCEA Headquarters (Santa Ana) and at member worksites in the field, as needed.
