Job Description



Under direct supervision of the Outlet General Manager and Assistant Outlet Manager, this role supervises the bar operations and the bar team members to ensure quality food and beverage service. The Supervisor will assist in any and all job duties at the bar when needed. The Supervisor must ultimately uphold the values and mission statement of the Company while performing positional responsibilities and adhering to operational standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Exceed guest expectations
  • Responsible for supervision of assigned team members and training new hires in service standards, menu items, Silverware point of sale system and upselling.
  • Extensive food, liquor, beer, wine and cocktail knowledge
  • Prepare basic beverages for guest service up to and including basic cocktails when needed
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels during the shift
  • Ensure breaks are assigned/taken properly to ensure compliance of the department
  • Interact with guests in a way that makes them feel special
  • Proper and friendly service when in contact with all guests
  • Handle guest concerns and provide appropriate resolution
  • Comply with liquor laws
  • Maintain accountability, both personal and financial
  • Ensure the team maintains cleanliness and organization of bar prep area and bar
  • Monitor cost and waste
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of menu, food preparation techniques
  • Be pro-active by assisting co-workers
  • Support and assist Managers
  • Monitor inventories
  • Attend meetings as needed
  • Assist with training, feedback, and coaching of the team members
  • Assist with annual performance reviews by providing feedback
  • Promote positive and engaging work environment for the entire Stewarding department
  • Be proficient with all aspects and services of the property
  • Be familiar with all food outlets and amenities within the property
  • Be knowledgeable of general city information as well as hotel history
  • Personal and financial accountability
  • Be an ambassador for the department, the property and the brand
  • Ensure team members always arrive on time, in proper uniform, mentally and physically prepared, and following Hotel’s grooming standards for their scheduled shift.
  • Follow all Fairmont, LQA standards, and Forbes standards when interacting with guests.
  • Conduct audits to ensure all standards are met.
  • Maintain knowledge and benefits of the loyalty program for guests
  • Communicate with the manager about any employee concerns and assist in finding appropriate resolution
  • Work well with others as a team
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience in F&B required preferably in upscale setting
  • Previous bartender experience preferred
  • Previous point of sale system experience required
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Highly responsible and reliable. Can work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a small team and independently
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have previous experience serving in a high-volume environment
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Be able to read and write in English to facilitate communications
  • Cash handling skills are necessary
  • Basic math skills
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and listen attentively to guests, management and co-workers
  • Must demonstrate use of good judgment
  • Must be able to obtain Food handlers certification
  • Must be able to obtain TIPs or Alcohol Safety Certification
